Microsoft and VMWare Software

How to get Microsoft/VMWare Software:
  1. Go to the ELMS site for Microsoft(will link to EGR) or VMWare and click Log In.
  2. Login using your CSE username/password.
  3. Click on the software button to see available software
  4. Download the software you select as an executable
  5. Run the executable to download the actual ISO or setup files.
  6. Burn the dowloaded file to CD as a disk image.
          About the Microsoft Developer Network Academic Alliance (MSDN AA)

Current CSE students and faculty are entitled to a free copy of most Microsoft development tools, servers and operating systems.

Access: If you can log into any CSE machines or resources, then you can log into ELMS. Everyone enrolled for a CSE class (cse231 and higher) are given a CSE username.

Software Available: Go to ELMS for a list. If you want a Microsoft product that is not listed, go to msdnaa.com and verify that it is available from Microsoft. If it is, send us an e-mail and we'll try to get it for you. They have older operating systems (like Windows 98 and 2000), all the servers (like Commerce Server), many betas, and other tools.

Not Available: Microsoft Office and its developer tools. However, many vendors, including Microsoft and MSU Computer Store, offer academic discounts.

Terms: This software is only for you, and may not be used for commercial purposes. Your license is permanent; you may continue to use it in the future, even after you leave CSE department. For more information, go to msdnaa.com.
