Abstract:

This week's Career Gallery has brought many potential employers, including General Electric Global Research, to MSU's campus to engage new and soon to be graduates.  GE Global Research performs research and development activities for the General Electric Corporation and its business entities.  This talk will focus on research activities done at the oldest industrial research laboratory in the U.S. 

 

Bio:

Dr. Benjamin Beckmann is a Decision Scientist at General Electric Global Research. Dr.Beckmann research focus is in the area of artificial life, self-organization, and autonomous computing. His research focuses on evolutionary pressures that form communities and mold social behavior. He has been an active contributor to open-source software platforms that support his research, which include Avida and DOME (soon to be openly distributed). His research has led to multiple publications, and has been the focus of articles in New Scientist magazine and World of Intelligence. Dr. Beckmann has a B.S. and M.S. from Western Michigan University and a Ph.D. from Michigan State University.
