EI lab featured in IEEE Computational Intelligence Magazine

The Embodied Intelligence lab contributed four articles to IEEE Computational Intelligence Magazine’s special issue on Autonomous Mental Development. The publication is the society magazine of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) and is distributed to all CIS members.

The issue includes feature article "From Neural Networks to the Brain: Autonomous Mental Development," by Juyang Weng and Wey-Shiaun Hwang (PhD ‘99). The three other MSU-authored columns are: Application Notes by Matt Luciw and Zhengping Ji, Developmental Tools by Nick Wassil (06), and Historic Perspective by Kim Thompson.

Autonomous Mental Development is an interdisciplinary field that encompasses the cognitive development of humans, animals, and machines. John Weng and Ida Stockman (Audiology and Speech Sciences) of Michigan State University proposed and organized the 2000 NSF/DARPA funded workshop that resulted in the creation of AMD as a research field.
