Jain and Dass receive ARO grant

Anil K. Jain and Sarat C. Dass (Statistics and Probability) have received funding from the Army Research Office Mathematics Division for the project "Fingerprints: Deformation, Individuality, Image Quality and Fusion."

This project deals with topics that are of critical importance in designing robust and high performance fingerprint recognition systems, including (i) modeling and estimation of non-linear fingerprint distortions, (ii) indexing of large fingerprint databases, (iii) quantitative study of fingerprint uniqueness and individuality, (iv) development of quality indices for biometric traits, and (v) development of methodology for biometric fusion.
