CSE Researchers Win Best Paper Awards

CSE Postdoctoral Research Associate, Dr. Cunjian Chen, won the Best Paper Runner-up Award for the paper titled "A Multi-Task Convolutional Neural Network for Joint Iris Detection and Presentation Attack Detection” co-authored with Prof. Arun Ross. The paper discusses a method to automatically detect fake eye artifacts that can be used by an adversary to undermine the security of iris-based biometric systems. The paper was presented at the Workshop on Cross-Domain Biometric Recognition (CDBR) at the IEEE Winter Conference on Applications of Computer Vision (WACV) in March 2018. CSE PhD Student, Sudipta Banerjee, won the Best Student Paper Award for her paper titled "Impact of Photometric Transformations on PRNU Estimation Schemes: A Case Study Using Near Infrared Ocular Images” co-authored with her advisor Prof. Arun Ross. The paper was presented at the International Workshop on Biometrics and Forensics in June 2018. The paper deals with the topic of image forensics and studies the impact of some image adjustment operations on extracting sensor-specific details from iris images.
