Xi Yin awarded Fitch Beach award
Xi Yin was awarded first place in the 2017-2018 Fitch Beach Outstanding Graduate Research Award competition. In this competition, each of the seven departments within the College of Engineering at Michigan State University nominates one candidate. The College of Engineering's Graduate Studies committee then selects the winner based on both their technical presentation and research record. Xi is also the recipient of 2018 Outstanding Graduate Student Award in the CSE Department of Michigan State University.Xi Yin received the B.S. degree in Electronic Information Science and Technology of Wuhan University, P.R. China in 2013. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering under the guidance of Dr. Xiaoming Liu. She is designing advanced machine learning algorithms to solve challenging computer vision problems. At MSU, she has filed 1 U.S. patent and authored 13 scientific publications, many of which are published in top venues such as IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, IEEE Transactions on Image Processing, CVPR, ICCV, etc. Her work has been cited more than 200 times with the H-index of 8. She has received numerous awards, including Best Student Paper Award in WACV 2014, and Top 10% Paper Award in ICIP 2014.
