Tong receives Best Paper Award at SGP 2017

Yiying Tong, Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at Michigan State University is a co-author with Max Budninskiy (Caltech), Beibei Liu (Oculus Research, former MSU student) and Mathieu Desbrun (Caltech) on the paper "Spectral Affine-Kernel Embeddings", which received a Best Paper Award at the Symposium on Geometry Processing 2017 (July 1-5) in London UK (http://geometry.cs.ucl.ac.uk/SGP2017/?p=awards ).

The paper presents a controllable embedding method for high- and low-dimensional geometry processing through sparse matrix eigenanalysis, suitable to perform non-linear dimensionality reduction on big data.
