Ross and Jain receive funding from MSU-Ford Alliance Program

Arun Ross and Anil Jain from the Computer Science and Engineering Department at Michigan State University have been awarded a Ford-MSU Alliance grant for designing methods that can seamlessly identify users of personalized autonomous mobility services based on context-determined biometric cues. The research goal is to create a highly reliable system to automatically recognize or continually verify an autonomous vehicle rider without deploying any additional hardware. The proposed solution envisions using resources that are readily available to both the user and the autonomous vehicular network system. This will include technologies such as wearable devices, smartphones, in-vehicle cameras, etc. The project will employ automated pattern recognition and machine learning schemes to design a comprehensive biometric solution.
