Brown receives NIH Award

C. Titus Brown, Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, and Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, at Michigan State University, has received a three-year research award (R01) from the Big Data Initiative Program at NIH. The title of the project is "Low-Memory Streaming Prefilters for Biological Sequencing Data."

The project's goals are to develop efficient and generic computational approaches to analyzing the increasingly inexpensive and vast quantities of sequencing data available from modern DNA sequencing machines. The project emphasizes open source software development, cloud computing, and reproducibility.
