MSU has strong presence at International Conference on Biometrics
The International Conference on Biometrics (ICB) was held in Madrid, Spain last week. MSU faculty, postdocs and students received several honors at the conference. Arun Ross, CSE Associate Professor received the IAPR Young Biometric Investigator Award (YBIA) at the Banquet, and delivered the plenary lecture at the Awards Ceremony. The talk was titled "Biometrics: In Search of Identity". Anil Jain, CSE University Distinguished Professor, gave one of the keynote talks at the event.The paper entitled "Automatic facial makeup detection with application in face recognition" by Cunjian Chen, Antitza Dantcheva, and Arun Ross received a Best Voted Poster Paper Award.
Additionally, in the Tabula Rasa Spoofing Challenge organized at ICB, Antitza Dantcheva, CSE Postdoctoral Student, was able to successfully spoof a male subject by the innovative use of makeup, thereby defeating the impostor detection module of a face recognition system. She received the "Best Spoofing Attack Award" for her effort.
