Heather Goldsby and David Knoester win prestigious NSF Fellowships

Recent Michigan State University PHD graduates Heather Goldsby and David Knoester have both won NSF "CI TraCS" Fellowships for Transformative Computational Science using CyberInfrastructure. These are very competitive and prestigious postdoctoral fellowships, with only 6-8 fellowships expected to be awarded nation-wide each year.

Heather Goldsby graduated with her PHD in Computer Science and Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, & Behavior. Her academic advisor was Charles Ofria, Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering. Heather will be working with Dr. Benjamin Kerr, a biologist at the University of Washington. Her project is titled "A Digital Evolution Infrastructure for Experimental Investigations into the Evolution of Division of Labor".

David Knoester graduated with his PHD in Computer Science and Ecology, Evolutionary Biology, & Behavior. His academic advisor was Philip McKinley, Professor of Computer Science and Engineering. David will be working with Dr. Christoph Adami in the Microbiology and Molecular Genetics department at Michigan State University. His project is titled "GENEVA: Generalizing Evolutionary Algorithms".
