Jin receives grant to enhance mine safety

Andrew Mason, Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Rong Jin, Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at Michigan State University, in collaboration with Xiangqun Zeng, Associate Professor of Chemistry at Oakland University, have received a grant from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) for their project entitled "Autonomous Electrochemical Gas Detection Microsystem for Mine Safety."

This five year project aims to develop an innovative autonomous electrochemical gas detection microsystem for mine safety that enables distributed long-term monitoring of multiple gases and predictions of hazardous conditions in underground mines.
