Undergraduate awarded Goldwater Scholarship
Tasneem Pierce, an undergraduate in genomics and molecular genetics has been awarded a Goldwater Scholarship. Tasneem Pierce, is an undergraduate research in the laboratory of Professor Titus Brown, Assistant Professor in Computer Science and Engineering and Assistant Professor in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics. Tasneem has been a recipient of the College of Engineering Summer Research Internship.On March 31, the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation awarded 278 scholarships to budding mathematicians, scientists and engineers. The one- and two-year scholarships will cover the cost of tuition, fees, books, and room and board up to a maximum of $7,500 per year.
The Goldwater Scholars were selected on the basis of academic merit from a field of 1,111 mathematics, science and engineering students who were nominated by the faculties of colleges and universities nationwide.
