President Simon announces $25M NSF Science and Technology Center to study Evolution in Action


Today, President Simon announced at a press conference that MSU was awarded a $25M grant from the National Science Foundation to establish a Science and Technology center to study evolution in action in both natural and virtual settings. The project called BEACON, is a consortium of universities led by Michigan State University with partner institutions of North Carolina A&T State University, University of Idaho, University of Texas at Austin and the University of Washington.

This center involves faculty across MSU, including several from the
Department of Computer Science and Engineering, including Charles Ofria, Betty Cheng, Philip McKinley, Titus Brown, Eric Torng, Bill Punch, and Robert Pennock.
