Tong awarded NSF Grant

Yiying Tong, assistant professor in the department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), and his MSU colleagues Guo-Wei, Wei, Professor of Mathematics and Electrical and Computer Engineering and Yang Wang, Professor and Chair of Mathematics, have been awarded an NSF grant for the project titled "Differential geometry approach for virus surface formation, evolution and visualization".

This project addresses serious challenges in virus surface formation, visualization, and dynamics due to exceptionally massive data sets. These challenges are tackled through the introduction of an original multiscale framework, together with robust numerical methods based on differential geometry theory of surfaces, and rigorous mathematical analysis.
