Students receive SWE awards


MSU Women in Computing members Jessica Parks and Merav Nahoom have been awarded Outstanding SWE/WIE Member Awards. The purpose of the award is to honor exemplary students who have participated in the Society of Women Engineers, Women in Engineering and/or Women in Computing programs at Michigan State University.

Winners were selected on the basis of outstanding academic achievement and community involvement. Parks, a computer science senior, received the award sponsored by TechSmith Corporation. Nahoom, a computer engineering senior, received the award sponsored by Terex.

Parks and Nahoom received the awards at the E-Week Night with Industry Banquet. The MSU Society of Women Engineers collaborated with The Center and the Diversity Programs Office to host the event. The banquet featured an awards ceremony, a keynote address by Dr. Yolanda Hicks (Ph.D. ME ’96), and opportunities for students to network with over 100 representatives from more than 40 companies.
