Jain to receive King-Sun Fu Prize


Anil K. Jain, University Distinguished Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, has been selected to receive the King-Sun Fu Prize from the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR).

This biennial prize is given to a living person in recognition of an outstanding technical contribution to the field of pattern recognition.

The award will be presented December 8, 2008 at the 19th International Conference on Pattern Recognition in Tampa, Florida, where Dr. Jain will deliver the King-Sun Fu Lecture.

The IAPR is an international association of non-profit, scientific, or professional organizations concerned with pattern recognition, computer vision, and image processing in a broad sense. The organization has over 7551 members in 42 countries.

Dr. Jain was named a Fellow of the International Association for Pattern Recognition in 1996 for "contributions to statistical pattern recognition and range data analysis and for service to IAPR."
