Nandakumar receives Fitch Beach Outstanding Graduate Research Award

The MSU Engineering Research and Graduate Studies Committee has named Dr. Karthik Nandakumar as one of three 2008 Fitch Beach Outstanding Graduate Research Awardees. Awards were determined on the basis of a technical presentation and outstanding research in a PhD program in the MSU College of Engineering.

Nandakumar will receive his PhD in Computer Science with a 4.0 GPA in May 2008, under the supervision of Professor Anil Jain. His PhD dissertation is titled "Multibiometric Systems: Fusion Strategies and Template Security." He received his MS in Computer Science (2005) and MS in Statistics (2007) at Michigan State University.

He is the co-author of Handbook of Multibiometrics (Springer) and has published his research in the best quality journals in his field, including the IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence and IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security. Nandakumar is currently a Research Fellow at the Institute for Infocomm Research in Singapore.
