Capstone Course receives gift from Auto-Owners Insurance

Auto-Owners Insurance Company has made a donation to support the Computer Science and Engineering Collaborative Design capstone course.

Bob Buchanan, Senior Vice President of Application Development for Auto-Owners Insurance Company, presented the gift to Professor Wayne Dyksen and spoke to capstone course students during class on February 6, 2008.

Auto-Owners, a capstone course client for six semesters, has provided financial support to the course for three years in a row. Previous donations have been used to purchase equipment for the capstone laboratory.

Capstone course clients provide students with valuable experience designing and delivering software solutions. They often provide additional support to the course and to CSE students:

· Auto-Owners Insurance, Chrysler, TechSmith, and Crowe Chizek sponsored Fall 2007 Design Day awards.
· Local software giant TechSmith donated Camtasia Studio software to the course, which enabled students to create project videos.
· Sircon, a successful IT firm in Okemos, MI, is sending human resources experts to campus next week to help CSE students prepare for the Engineering Expo.
· Many clients provide students with internships or hire students for full time positions after graduation.
